Same old same old morning routine. Got to class just barely in time. I keep telling myself that I need to leave a little earlier. But that would mean going down to breakfast earlier which would meaning being ready to go earlier which might mean getting up earlier which I'm just not willing to do.
Grammar class I hardly even remember. We did more with the subjunctive I think. We have a test tomorrow. Hopefully it goes ok. I'm not really stressing about it though. I don't feel like I need to do too much studying (not any really). Second class went pretty well. We talked about our houses and our teacher said she wants an american kitchen with a refrigerator with double doors. Whenever she sees an american movie she gets really jealous of the big kitchens. And the houses definitely are a lot smaller here. And most people don't even live in houses. They live in apartments or flats. So it's very different from our big american homes (which I miss a lot). Then we each took on a personality and role played that we were sharing a house and had to come up with a list of rules and household chores and such. It was kind of fun. I don't know what the point was though. Then in the afternoon class we talked more about vacations but this time we talked about the last vacation we went on. So I talked about going to harry potter world this summer. Which was kind of hard to describe in spanish. And it made me really miss florida and Katherine and Mallory and Katy and my harry potter books. We also talked a little bit about the first time we remember doing certain things. Like riding a bike or going to a museum of traveling by airplane. It's all good practice I suppose. It's just frustrating making some of the same mistakes over and over again. Especially when it's things you know on paper. And there are times when there are things that I want to say that I just kind of say the same way you would in english which doesn't really work. It's hard when you have things to say but don't know the right words to say to get your point across.
This afternoon we went with the school to tour el palacio de lebrija. It's this palace that was built in the 16th century I believe back when this city was really rich and thriving. It's known for the owner's love of archeology which led to her bringing in a lot of mosaics from these nearby roman ruins as well as a lot of tiles from arabian architects and artists. We didn't spend a lot of time there, you can see it pretty quickly, but it was pretty with a lot of cool architectural aspects.
After that we found this restaurant that we had heard people talking about and they have a ton of montaditos which are like little sandwiches and they are all pretty cheap. So we tried these chocolate ones which were really good and satisfied a chocolate craving. It was seriously warm melted chocolate between two slices of bread. And it came with potato chips. All for 1 euro. Not too bad. Not super filling but we were just trying it out today. Next time I might get a couple of things.
After that I came back to the house. Lola (the cat) was super super obnoxious and just making all kinds of noise. I'm assuming it's because R and J were gone all day at an art exhibition in Malaga. They showed me the brochure/program at dinner, meat and potatoes and rice, and I tried to show interest in enthusiasm but the sculptures all looked really weird to me. But if they like it...
So glad tomorrow is friday and I'm excited to go to cordoba on saturday. I'll make sure to bring spare batteries for that trip.
