Friday afternoon the first two brotherhoods cancelled due to rain, but the others took a chance and went out. There was the occasional cloudburst, but nothing major. Although you couldn’t tell with these umbrella crazy Spaniards. Seriously, one drop of rain falls and they whip out the umbrella. It’s insane. But anyway. I got to see la o on reyes catolicos and then I walked across the bridge to visit the church of one of the brotherhoods that cancelled because they had it open for people to come and see their pasos. After that I caught little bits of a couple other processions before getting a spot in the duque to watch la mortaja. There’’s was kind of interesting because they had this guy ringing a bell at the beginning and then the music that accompanied their paso was a choir instead of a band and most of the singers were children. But once that had passed a little after 11 I was ready to go back to the house and get some much needed sleep.
